Which haircare products do you love? Do you use LUSH haircare in your daily routine?
Haircare is the section that really makes me look like a shitty Lushie. First of all, I spent nearly two years working in a hair salon - that stash is bigger than my Lush stash! Hairspray and hair dye don’t expire, and I’ve got enough to last me until next summer.
My hair colour washes out really easy - the joy of bright red locks - so I wash my hair once a week, which means it takes forever to use up a bottle of shampoo. Second of all, Sodium Lauryl/Laureth Sulfate and red hair are not compatible, so I actually don’t use any Lush shampoo other than Daddy-O for the violet pigments. There, I said it! SLS is a safe synthetic, and while people tend to criticize it for being “bad”, it’s one of the oldest lathering agents around, so it has been tested more than the newer Ammonium Lauryl Sulfate, etc. I personally don’t give a flying fuck about my lathering agents, so if Sodium LS fades red hair and Ammonium LS doesn’t, then I’ll be using the latter. (I’m currently using Alterna shampoo; it’s still vegan, eco certified, fair-trade, ethically sourced and apparently paraben free).
Cynthia Sylvia Stout is SLS-free but I hate that boozy smell. Great shampoo though! It’s true!
American Cream is my conditioner preference and Jasmine and Henna Fluff-ease is my deep conditioner. I’ll try Retread and H’Suan Wen Hua one day, if I ever use up the stuff I have now.
Oh! And I almost forgot - R&B is a very nice leave-in smoothing cream/texturizer. I’m VERY elitist and picky when it comes to this stuff; I have 8 bottles of various other products that do the same thing, so you can really trust me when I say R&B is a true competitor in the game. Fun fact: R&B stands for Revive & Balance.
